The National Lottery Grants for Heritage programme provides funding of up to £10 million for projects that help people and communities connect with, safeguard and celebrate the UK’s heritage. Funding is available for a wide range of activities, including capital works, repairs and conservation, staff and volunteer costs, community engagement, events, learning programmes and organisational development.

Projects must demonstrate how they will deliver against the programme’s four investment principles: saving heritage, protecting the environment, inclusion, access and participation, and organisational sustainability. The fund supports initiatives that increase public engagement with heritage while ensuring its long-term preservation and relevance for future generations.

Partnership working is strongly encouraged, and applicants are expected to secure at least 10% match funding from other sources.
