The Allen Lane Foundation’s Young People’s Programme provides grants of up to £15,000 to small charities and voluntary organisations supporting vulnerable, socially excluded or marginalised young people aged 12 to 21. Applications can be submitted at any time and are considered at funding meetings held in February, June and October.

The programme prioritises organisations working with young people who are disengaged from education or employment, vulnerable to exploitation, involved in or at risk of entering the criminal justice system, in care or leaving care, experiencing significant mental health challenges, or affected by trauma, abuse, neglect or violence. The Foundation has a particular focus on young people who are persistently absent from school, leave education with no qualifications, or are at risk of ‘falling through the cracks’ of existing support services.

Eligible locally operating organisations must have an annual income and expenditure of less than £100,000, while organisations working nationwide must have annual income and expenditure below £250,000. Both core and project funding may be considered where the organisation’s work aligns with the programme’s aims.

Please note that the Foundation does not fund work taking place within Greater London, although London-based organisations may apply if the beneficiaries of the project are not solely based there. The Foundation also does not fund school-based work or projects where the primary focus is neurodiversity.
