The Amity Allotment Fund, administrated by Kent Community Foundation, awards grants of up to £7,500 for existing allotment sites/community gardens and up to £10,000 for new allotment sites looking to setup for the benefit of the local community.
The fund will consider the following cost areas:
- Core Costs
Supporting ongoing site rental, insurance and legal costs. - Capital Costs
Helping to upgrade sites providing items such as sheds, tools, water collection equipment and fencing. - Plot revival grants
Helping to improve disused plots and return them to working order ready for the next plot holder. - “Get Growing” starter packs
Funding specifically for basic hand tools, plants, and seeds etc for growers completely new to allotments, or with very limited income, to get up and running. Reusable items would remain the property of the allotment. - Fee bursaries
Covering annual membership fees for those who would struggle to add the annual cost of an allotment plot into their household budget or would deprioritise it as “nice to do” rather than “need to do”. - New Allotment Setup
Funding for parish councils or newly constituted group to explore establishing allotments in areas that don’t currently have an offering. Covering items as outlined above or for clearing the site. If looking to setup a new site, the fund will consider up to £10,000 but do note this cannot be more than 80% the full costs to establish the site.
